Great places to learn about birds and more…
Learn about birds
My favorite - home of www.allaboutbirds.org and www.ebird.org as well as the Merlin Bird ID app at www.merlin.allaboutbirds.org
I highly recommend eBird. You can explore regions such as Jefferson County, Indiana, see what species have been reported and when. If you want to start a birding checklist, sign up for free on eBird and get started. The Merlin phone/tablet app allows you to take a picture (or use picture file) of a bird and have the app identify the species. There is also an eBird app you can use in the field for birding. Allaboutbirds has great info and pictures - It has info about identification, habitat, and much more. All of these great resources fall under the Cornell University Lab of Ornithology.
My eBird profile is here: https://ebird.org/profile/ODM3MDc1
The National Audubon Society has been advocating for bird conservation for over 100 years. The is a bird guide for North America, lots of information about conservation, and much more.
The Indiana Audubon is the oldest continuously operating conservation organization in Indiana. I am a member of this organization and I encourage persons interested in birds, conservation, and wildlife to check out the link and learn more about what this organization does. You can even ”adopt” a banded Saw-Whet Owl if you want in the store.
Information about wetlands in Indiana and endangered species at Indiana Department of Natural Resources sites
This page is brief but has very interesting background about wetlands in Indiana. There is also information that defines the different types of wetlands such as bogs, marshes, streams, and so on.
Here you can learn about the function and benefits of wetlands as well as understand how many millions of acres of wetlands have been lost in Indiana.
Information about endangered species (not only birds) in Indiana by County - You can click Jefferson County on the map, then scroll down to see the birds on the list.
Great Sources for Used Cameras, Lenses, and Photography Gear
I have used each of these multiple times and had 100% great experiences with used equipment from these sites. Make sure to check the condition grading scales used on each site so you know what to expect.
Roberts Camera makes the top of list for several reasons. It is an Indiana company with stores in Indianapolis as well as the website. Outstanding service and selection. They go a step above in terms of pictures and descriptions for their used gear that you won’t find on other sites. Roberts is nationally known and many photographers I’ve met in Florida also use this store for their used and new gear. Nice!
KEH Camera buys and sells used gear. Located in Smyrna, Georgia. Great selection of used gear.
BH offers new and used equipment. Located in New York City, BH has been around a long time and is very well-known. They offer many other consumer electronics items besides camera gear. Because BH is large and popular, you can find many user reviews for equipment on their site.
